Sura # 2 | MadinaSura # 2 | Madina سورة البقرةAl-Baqara  The Cow   
 2سورة البقرة   2/178.           يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِصَاصُ فِي الْقَتْلَى ۖ الْحُرُّ بِالْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدُ بِالْعَبْدِ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ بِالْأُنْثَىٰ ۚ فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ شَيْءٌ فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَأَدَاءٌ إِلَيْهِ بِإِحْسَانٍ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ تَخْفِيفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ ۗ فَمَنِ اعْتَدَىٰ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
 
  [Ahmed Ali]     اے ایمان والو مقتولوں میں برابری کرنا تم پر فرض کیا گیا ہے آزاد بدلے آزاد کے اور غلام بدلے غلام کے اور عورت بدلے عورت کے پس جسے اس کے بھائی کی طرف سے کچھ بھی معاف کیا جائے تو دستور کے موافق مطالبہ کرنا چاہیئے اور اسے نیکی کے ساتھ ادا کرنا چاہیئے یہ تمہارے رب کی طرف سے آسانی اور مہربانی ہے پس جو اس کے بعد زیادتی کرے تو اس کے لیے دردناک عذاب ہے
  


[Yusuf Ali]     O ye who believe! The law of equality is prescribed to you in cases of murder; 
the free for the free the slave for the slave 
the woman for the woman. 
But if any remission is made by the brother of the slain 
then grant any reasonable demand, 
and compensate him with handsome gratitude,
This is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty.

 سورة البقرة   2/179.           وَلَكُمْ فِي الْقِصَاصِ حَيَاةٌ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
  
[Ahmed Ali]     اور اے عقلمندو تمہارے لیے قصاص میں زندگی ہے تاکہ تم (خونریزی سے) بچو
  
[Yusuf Ali]     In the law of Equality there is (saving of) life to you O ye men of understanding! that ye may restrain yourselves.
