9-23.           يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا آبَاءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَانَكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ إِنِ اسْتَحَبُّوا الْكُفْرَ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْكُمْ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ

    

 [Ahmed Ali]     اے ایمان والو! اپنے باپوں اور بھائیوں سے دوستی نہ رکھو اگر وہ ایمان پر کفر کو پسند کریں اور تم میں سے جو ان سے دوستی رکھے گا سو وہی لوگ ظالم ہیں

    

 [Yusuf Ali]     O ye who believe! Take not for protectors

your fathers and

your brothers

if they love infidelity above faith:

if any of you do so they do wrong.

Al-Mumtahina | She that is to be examined سورة الممتحنة  Sura 60 | Madina
60-9.           إِنَّمَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلَىٰ إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَنْ تَوَلَّوْهُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ
 

[Ahmed Ali]     تمہیں الله انہیں سے منع کرتا ہے کہ جو دین میں تم سے لڑے اورانہوں نے تمہیں تمہارے گھروں سے نکال دیا اور تمہارے نکالنے پر (لوگوں کی) مدد بھی کی کہ ان سے دوستی کرو اورجس نے ان سے دوستی کی تو پھر وہی ظالم بھی ہیں
    

[Yusuf Ali]  Allah only forbids you, with regard to those 

who fight you for (your) Faith,

and drive you out of your homes, 

and support (others) in driving you out,

from turning to them (for friendship and protection). 

It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances) that do wrong.
