At-Taubah | Repentance سورة التوبة  Sura # 9 | Madina

9-46.           ۞ وَلَوْ أَرَادُوا الْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّوا لَهُ عُدَّةً وَلَٰكِنْ كَرِهَ اللَّهُ انْبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ اقْعُدُوا مَعَ الْقَاعِدِينَ

   

  [Ahmed Ali]     اور اگر وہ نکلنا چاہتے تو اس کے لیے کوئی سامان ضرور تیار کرتے لیکن الله نے ان کا اٹھنا پسند نہ کیا سو انہیں روک دیا اور حکم ہوا کہ بیٹھنے والوں کے ساتھ بیٹھے رہو

    

[Yusuf Ali]     If they had intended to come out,

they would certainly have made some preparation therefor;

but Allah was averse to their being sent forth; so 

He made them lag behind 

and they were told "sit ye among those who sit (inactive)."

9-47.           لَوْ خَرَجُوا فِيكُمْ مَا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالًا وَلَأَوْضَعُوا خِلَالَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّاعُونَ لَهُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ

     

[Ahmed Ali]     اگر وہ تم میں نکلتے تو سوائے فساد کے اور کچھ نہ بڑھاتے اور تم میں فساد ڈلوانے کی غرض سے دوڑے دوڑے پھرتے اورتم میں ان کے جاسوس بھی ہیں اور الله ظالموں کو خوب جانتا ہے

    

[Yusuf Ali]     If they had come out with you, 

they would not have added to your (strength) 

but only (made for) disorder,

hurrying to and fro in your midst 

and sowing sedition among you 

and there would have been some among you, 

who would have listened to them. 

But Allah knoweth well those who do wrong.

9-48.           لَقَدِ ابْتَغَوُا الْفِتْنَةَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا لَكَ الْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ

     

[Ahmed Ali]     یہ پہلے بھی فساد کے طالب رہے ہیں اور بہت سی باتوں میں تمہارے لئےالٹ پھیر کرتے رہے ہیں یہاں تک کہ حق آ پہنچا اور الله کا حکم غالب ہوا اور وہ ناخوش ہی رہے

    

 [Yusuf Ali]     Indeed they had plotted sedition before, and upset matters for thee― until The Truth arrived and the Decree of Allah became manifest, much to their disgust.

9-49.           وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ ائْذَنْ لِي وَلَا تَفْتِنِّي ۚ أَلَا فِي الْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوا ۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ

     

[Ahmed Ali]     اور ان میں سے بعض کہتے ہیں کہ مجھے تو اجازت ہی دیجیئے اور فتنہ میں نہ ڈالیے خبردار! وہ فتنہ میں پڑ چکے ہیں اوربے شک دوزخ کافروں پر احاطہ کرنے والی ہے

    

 [Yusuf Ali]     Among them is (many) a man who says: 

"Grant me exemption 

and draw me not into trial." 

Have they not fallen into trial already? 

And indeed hell surrounds the Unbelievers (on all sides).
