Al-Araf | | The heights سورة الأعراف  Sura # 7 | Makkah
7-32.           قُلْ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِ وَالطَّيِّبَاتِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ ۚ قُلْ هِيَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا خَالِصَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
   
[Ahmed Ali]     کہہ دو الله کی زینت کو کس نے حرام کیا ہے جو اس نے اپنے بندو ں کے واسطے پیدا کی ہے اورکس نے کھانے کی ستھری چیزیں (حرام کیں) کہہ دو دنیا کی زندگی میں یہ نعمتیں اصل میں ایمان والوں کے لیے ہیں قیامت کے دن خالص انہیں کے لیے ہوجائیں گی اسی طرح ہم آیتیں مفصل بیان کرتے ہیں ان کے لیے جو سمجھتے ہیں
  

  [Yusuf Ali]     Say: Who hath forbidden the beautiful (gifts) of Allah,

which He hath produced for his servants,

and the things clean and pure (which He hath provided) for sustenance?

Say: They are in the life of this world, for those who believe,

(and) purely for them on the Day of Judgment.

Thus do We explain the signs in detail for those who understand.
 



Al-Qasas  The Story  سورة القصص  Sura # 28 | Makkah      
28--60.           وَمَا أُوتِيتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتُهَا ۚ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
   
[Ahmed Ali]     اور جو چیز تمہیں دی گئی ہے وہ دنیا کی زندگی کا فائدہ اور اس کی زینت ہے جو چیز الله کے ہاں ہے وہ بہتر اورباقی رہنے والی ہے کیا تم نہیں سمجھتے
  
  [Yusuf Ali]     The (material) things which ye are given are but the conveniences of this life

and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more enduring:

will ye not then be wise?






    سورة الإسراء  Sura # 17 | Makkah  Al-Isra | The night journey
17/19.           وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْآخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُمْ مَشْكُورًا
   
[Ahmed Ali]     اورجو آخرت چاہتا ہے اوراس کے لیے مناسب کوشش بھی کرتا ہے اور وہ مومن بھی ہے تو ایسے لوگوں کی کوشش مقبول ہو گی
   
[Yusuf Ali]     Those who do wish for the (things of) the Hereafter,

and strive therefor with all due striving, and have Faith―

they are the ones whose striving is acceptable (to Allah).



Al-Hadid  The Iron سورة الحديد  Sura # 57 | Madina   
57/27.           ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنْجِيلَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ رَأْفَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ رِضْوَانِ اللَّهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَا ۖ فَآتَيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ
   
 [Ahmed Ali]     پھر اس کے بعد ہم نے اپنے اور رسول بھیجے اور عیسیٰ ابن مریم کو بعد میں بھیجا اور اسے ہم نے انجیل دی اور اس کے ماننے والوں کے دلوں میں ہم نے نرمی اور مہربانی رکھ دی اور ترک دنیا جو انہوں نے خود ایجاد کی ہم نے وہ ان پرفرض نہیں کی تھی مگر انہوں نے رضائے الہیٰ حاصل کرنے کے لیے ایسا کیا پس اسے نباہ نہ سکے جیسے نباہنا چاہیئے تھا تو ہم نے انہیں جو ان میں سے ایمان لائے ان کا اجر دے دیا اور بہت سے تو ان میں بدکار ہی ہیں
  


 [Yusuf Ali]     Then in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers:

We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel;

and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy.

But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves,

We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good pleasure of Allah;

but that they did not foster as they should have done.

Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward,

but many of them are rebellious transgressors.
